The Real Definition of Email Blasts

Email blasts are designed to help increase lead generation through a business' opt in subscriber base. They are customized to fit a specific niche audience in order to be sure products or services are most likely to reach those interested. Since they utilize an opt in base, potential customers are already motivated to seek out certain products or services since they have taken proactive measures to be notified about them.

An email blast may highlight a discount, special offer, new products or whatever the business chooses to place front and center. As with any type of advertising, it is meant to generate excitement or interest in the overall business as well as whatever product or service has been highlighted. Email blasts may occur on a regular basis such as weekly, biweekly, monthly or quarterly.

An email blast campaign is typically an HTML message that is colorful, eye catching and stylized so that it stands out. A realistic but catchy title in the subject line of the message should draw in the potential customers. Of course the content must be relevant to the business and/or website as well as to the customer base the business wants to reach. If successful, not only will the campaign drive customers to the web site and create strong interest, it will conclude in sales and hopefully a loyal and steady customer base.

Before the campaign begins, a business needs to be sure it will not be in violation of the CAN SPAM Act. The CAN SPAM Act forbids a false or misleading header name and a deceptive subject line and demands an opt out option for those who do not want to receive messages in the future. Furthermore, the message must clearly state that it is an advertisement and include a physical address from the sender.

One may to prevent spam issues with this type of campaign is to be sure you are including only those who have opted in to receive information about the product or service. Businesses may manually build these lists from their existing customer bases or find a service that sells or rents email lists.
